Our experienced, passionate kaiako each bring their own unique kete full of knowledge to support all tamariki and whanau that come to our whare ako. Our supportive team are ready to meet you and your tamariki where you are and guide you through this beautiful journey here at Busy Bees Morrinsville. Our kaiako have been selected based on their experience and passion within the Early Learning field, their professional knowledge of teaching and nurturing young tamariki as well as their philosophy of education and knowledge of child development.

Our team strongly value and nurture whanaungatanga (relationships) with one another, with our beloved whaanau and with our tamariki.

"Ko te ahurei o te tamaiti arahia ō tatou mahi, Let the uniqueness of the child guide our work."

Our approach is very much about being responsive to each individual child’s cues and that every child is unique and ensuring they are treated as such. Each child is observed and planned for as an individual. Based on the current disposition each child has been displaying, learning experiences are then set up. We work in partnership with whaanau, knowing that they are their children’s first teachers and that they know their child best.

We have a fantastic transition-to-school programme, named Pathways to Kura is dedicated to further supporting our akoranga in their readiness for to school. Pathways to Kura is attended by our tamariki who are 4 (or are turning 4 and have communicated to our Kaiako a desire to join), we work to make some aspects of school more familiar and practice the values seen within our school communities. Through consistent relationships and communication with our local kura, we can ensure our Pathways to Kura curriculum is current and responsive to the needs, and stages of our learners/ aakonga. Predominant areas that we support are; self-help and regulation skills, early mathematics and literacy, name recognition and fine/ gross motor development.

We are incredibly proud to hold the Whānau (Silver) Healthy Heart Award. Achieving this high level award means that healthy eating and physical activity practices are recognised and woven sustainably into all aspects of our centre environment, we are helping our tamariki to have healthy habits and healthy hearts for life.

Our fabulous cook uses minimally processed food, avoiding recipes that are high in added sugar and instead, we embrace fresh, real and wholesome ingredients to offer a menu that is full of nutritious and tasty recipes across morning-tea and lunch.

Our Rooms

Te Pihinga (up to 2 years) - In our Te Pihinga space we prioritise the development of safe and secure relationships between our tamariki and kaiako. Our environment is structured around what we believe is quality care. Younger peepi and transitioning tamariki will have a primary caregiver while they are settling into our space to create consistency and secure their sense of belonging. Our close knit team work closely alongside our whaanau to understand each child's unique cues and needs. This allows us to tailor our daily routines to support their natural rhythms and ensure that they feel a sense of manaaki throughout their time with us

Te Puaawai (2-6 years) - In Ruma Te Puaawai (overs) we offer an incredible indoor and outdoor environment full of endless resources for open-ended opportunities for exploration. The aim in Te Puaawai is to support tamariki in a child-led and play based environment where we allow for their imaginations and creative spirit to guide their learning. We want tamariki to feel a sense of belonging in their space to be able to gain knowledge and skills such as independence, trust and autonomy. This will support them in being lifelong learners; confident in who they are.

Testimonials

"I have recently moved my daughter to this centre and I wish I had done it sooner! Every teacher is amazing and makes an effort to get to know my daughter and to communicate with me every time she attends. There are always teachers on the floor interacting with the children and the kids are their main focus. Overall I'm so happy with Busy Bees Morrinsville and better yet my daughter loves it too!"
